I recognize this fairy tale. The girl in the red dress is the mean sister - the one who spews toads and vipers from her mouth.

This is a definite fav! The queen's dress really makes her stand out from the rest of the picture (which you probably intended), and I love the little frog to her side.

Out of curiosity, who's the little sylvan-looking person in the lower left?

That's the fairy in the story who curses the girl. When she speaks toads and vipers fall out of her mouth. Her younger sister, however, spits out diamonds and roses. It's a really weird little fairy tale.

LOL. :D I love her expression and the cuts and bite marks on her skin. The elf on the side is neat. I like how her hair is yellow and transcends into green at the tips. You have an awesome command of gauche, I still can't get the hand of it. I keep trying to layer it like oil paint.

My strength is in washes. I usually do a hack job of oils. Though I am starting to get a hang of some of the glazing techniques.

Even after Franco's classes? He had us layer like crazy in the set designs class! I get too picky whenever I try washes. :fear:

Oils are fun. Make a mistake, just wait for it to dry and paint over it. I like glazing. The underpainting part lets you play with light and shadow then add colour afterwards. Have they had you use olive green to tint the shadows of the skin?

So how many different art supplies did you have to buy for each art class. It seemed like I had to buy a new medium each time I started a new class :faint:

I've only had a still life oil painting class. I take Landscape Painting in the fall, and I have Life Painting I, but we don't start oil until Life Painting II. I'm coming close to the end of the course now, it's all getting pretty intense.

I had to crash course learn how to use oil paint. :faint: The media of choice for the paint classes at Catholic are oil paints, unless otherwise noted for other classes. Since I placed out of the beginning art classes, I had to quickly get up to par. I remember freaking out about having to buy yet another set of art supplies! I barely used the ones (or some of them) that I had to buy for NCArts. What are you using in Life Painting I?

I think we're using watercolor and acrylics. Luckily I have some, so I should be okay. I suspect Landscape will cost me a small fortune though.

I don't know who cried more, me or my bank account, over art supply buying. Of course, I notice now that I am out of school and no longer required to buy supplies, a lot of stores now have major back to school sales :X I just use them to restock things that I use ;)
